Submissions

Paper submission

SAM 2024 welcomed academic and industrial submissions in the following categories:
  • Full papers describing original, unpublished results (max 10 pages, including figures and appendices in ACM format, and up to two more pages containing only references in ACM format).
  • Short papers, describing work in progress (max 6 pages, including figures and appendices in ACM format, and up to two more pages containing only references in ACM format).

It was required that: full papers should describe significant, original, and unpublished results related to but not limited to any of the SAM-related topics; whereas short papers are insightful contributions on SAM relevant topics such as preliminary and initial research results for which a complete evaluation has not yet been performed.

The submission of (full or short) papers that describe negative results and replication studies was also encouraged. These types of papers advance knowledge by allowing us to continuously (re)evaluate understanding of the current approaches.

It was noted that SAM2024 papers are included in the ACM Digital Library, and submission of an article to an ACM Publication, is acknowledging that author and co-authors are subject to all ACM Publications Policies, including ACM's new Publications Policy on Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects. Alleged violations of this policy or any ACM Publications Policy will be investigated by ACM and may result in a full retraction of the paper, in addition to other potential penalties, as per ACM Publications Policy.

Authors were asked to ensure that the author and co-authors obtain an ORCID ID, so the publishing process for your accepted paper can be completed. ACM has been involved in ORCID from the start and has made a commitment to collect ORCID IDs from all of our published authors. The collection process has started was rolled out as a requirement throughout 2022. ACM are committed to improve author discoverability, ensure proper attribution and contribute to ongoing community efforts around name normalization; your ORCID ID will help in these efforts.

Each paper submitted was evaluated by at least three reviewers, based on significance, originality, substance, correctness, and clarity.

The program committee and SAM Co-chairs selected one of the presented papers for a Best Paper Award.

Best SAM 2024 papers were candidates to Innovations in Systems and Software Engineering ISSE NASA Journal published by Springer.

Submission Instructions

The SAM 2024 proceedings were to be published by ACM. It was requested:
  • All submissions must conform to SAM 2024 formatting instructions and must not exceed 10 pages for full papers and 6 pages for short papers (excluding references). The page limit is strict, and it was not possible to purchase additional pages
  • All submissions had to be in PDF and made through the SAM 2024 Easychair web page.
  • Formatting instructions were available at ACM Proceedings Template for both LaTeX and Word users. LaTeX users had to use the provided acmart.cls and ACM-Reference-Format.bst without modification, enable the conference format in the preamble of the document (i.e., \documentclass[sigconf,review]{acmart}), and use the ACM reference format for the bibliography (i.e., \bibliographystyle{ACM-Reference-Format}). The review option adds line numbers, thereby allowing referees to refer to specific lines in their comments.
  • By submitting to SAM2024, authors acknowledge that they are aware of and agree to be bound by the ACM Policy and Procedures on Plagiarism. In particular, papers submitted to SAM 2024 must not have been published elsewhere and must not be under review or submitted for review elsewhere while under consideration for SAM 2024.
Accepted papers had to be presented in person at SAM 2024 by one or more of the authors present at the conference.
